We had another fantastic week of learning and fun at Longden, and here are some highlights!

We can't express enough how much we love Lunch on the Lawn! Not even the light drizzle this morning could dampen one of our favorite traditions. It fills our hearts with joy to spend time with the amazing kids, families, and friends from the community. There is truly nothing like great music, lots of laughter, and the simple joy of sharing a meal. 

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! We’re already looking forward to doing it all again soon!

Thank you to everyone who made sure our custodians felt appreciated yesterday. They truly are Longden's Dream Team.

We have another exciting week planned for next week. Here's a quick sneak peek of the fun activities we’ve lined up:
  • ˖°𓇼🌊⋆🐚🫧 6th-grade virtual field trip to the Aquarium of the Pacific — We will dive into the wonders of the ocean right from our classrooms! 
  • ˚⋆🔬🧪🥽⋆˚ 5th-grade field trip to the California Science Center — We'll explore science in action and discover exhibits up close.

🧡🎃👻🧡Paper Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Decorate a paper pumpkin with a book related design. 
Prizes will be awarded for 1st & 2nd place in each class. 
Students who are interested in participating may pick up an entry form from the Longden Library. 
Please submit all entries by Monday, October 13th.
This is an optional contest.

Longden PTA Reflections Program: “I Belong”

We’re excited to announce the launch of this year’s PTA Reflections program at Longden! This national arts initiative encourages students to explore their creativity and express themselves through various artistic mediums.
Key Details:
  • Theme: “I Belong”
  • Submission Deadline: Monday, October 27, 2025
Program Highlights:
  • Open to all grades (TK–6th)
  • Six categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts
  • Opportunities for recognition at school, district, state, and national levels
How to Participate:
  1. Choose a category and create an original piece of art interpreting the theme “I Belong.”
  2. Submit your entry in one of two ways:
We encourage all students to participate and share their unique perspectives on “I Belong.”

Bookmark Contest

Temple City Library would like to invite your students to participate in LA County Library’s 46th Annual Bookmark Contest, an annual program that encourages a love of books and reading while also promoting creativity, artistic expression, and community engagement. Students will have the chance to see their bookmark designs featured at their local library and throughout Los Angeles County.

We are happy to share that we have new interactive menus for our families. These menus allow you to click an item to see a photo (coming soon) and the nutritional information. You can view this week's breakfast and lunch menu by visiting our website. 

Menu items and photos are continuously being added, so please be patient with our new system. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Food Services Marisol Cortez at mcortez@tcusd.net.

Celebrate Your Student’s Birthday in Lights!

Make their day extra special with a birthday shout out on our new digital marquee. Submit your birthday message request using the attached Google form and drop off your $20 tax-deductible donation to the office or pay by credit card using the link in the form. Google Form
Just a friendly note: if you send us any requests during breaks or on days when school is not in session, our response might be delayed until we're back. Thanks for your understanding!

We need your support regarding the sharing of food or drinks.
The rise in food allergies among children means that even the tiniest exposure to allergens could be potentially severe or life-threatening. This year, we've seen an increase in students with various food allergies. Ensuring a safe environment for all students is more crucial than ever.
Here's how you can help make Longden safer for all students:
  • Please remind your child never to share their food and drinks with other students.
  • Please remind your child never to eat or drink anything offered to them by others.
  • Please remind your child to wash their hands before and after eating.
Your support for children with allergies is extremely valuable. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.

If your child is absent for any reason, please call, email, or send a note to our front office at:

  • Child's first and last name
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Name of parent/guardian reporting absence
Deliveries

Deliveries

Please be advised that the office does not allow lunch drop-offs, water bottles, instruments, homework, schoolwork, books, etc. Your understanding and cooperation are highly appreciated as we work together to create an environment that maximizes student learning and maintains a safe, closed campus.
What if your child forgets breakfast or lunch?
Our cafeteria will provide nutritious options at no charge.

  3. Communicate with your child's teacher to confirm the time & date to volunteer.
*Please note: Not all teachers request volunteers. You will still have volunteer opportunities with Longden PTA.
