We want to thank you for your interest in TCUSD's Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program.

Dual Language Immersion is a program that includes native English speakers and native target language speakers in the same classroom and all students learn to think, read, write, and communicate naturally in two languages: English/Mandarin. Participation in a dual language immersion program is a comprehensive educational experience where students will be instructed in Mandarin for 50% of the day and English for 50% of the day.  Written materials will be provided in Simplified Chinese and English depending upon the subject area.

Parents select a Dual Language Program to stimulate their child’s cognitive, social, and linguistic development.  Dual Language Education provides children with the skills needed to live and work in a cultural and global economy and prepares them with advantages to compete for future careers.

The Dual Language Immersion Program (“DLI Program”) is for students in TCUSD schools and other districts. TCUSD offers the DLI Program at Longden Elementary for incoming kindergarten students.

If multiple applications are received for the same student, only the latest submission will be processed and any prior applications will be voidedSubmitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the DLI Program.

Younger siblings applying for the DLI Program will not automatically follow older siblings who are already attending the school of their choice on an approved transfer.

Intradistrict Transfer Applications to the school of choice (school to school within TCUSD) - An Intradistrict transfer application is not required if student is accepted directly into the DLI Program. However, if you wish for your student to attend a school other than you residence school while waiting for acceptance into the program, you may apply for both the DLI Program and for an intradistrict transfer. (These are two separate applications and processes.) If accepted into the DLI Program, the intradistrict application will be voided.

Interdistrict Transfer Applicants (District to District) may also apply for the DLI Program. Parents may complete this application and shall also follow the interdistrict transfer process which begins at their district of residence.

TCUSD does not assume any responsibility for transportation of a student who is accepted into the DLI Program. It is the responsibility of the parent / guardian to ensure students arrive at school daily on time.
