Why Absence Recovery Matters 

If your child was marked absent, your child has the option to complete class work to clear their attendance record. Abscence Recovery allows a student who is absent for 1-2 days to recover their absence by submitting applicable school work. Completing absence recovery work keeps students caught up on missed instruction and gives every absence a clear, documented outcome. 

Attendance also directly affects school funding. The district receives funding based on student attendance, and clearing absences through absence/independent recovery helps ensure that funding is protected. 

This funding supports high-quality instruction and programs for all students, including visual and performing arts, athletics, and school facilities. When absences are cleared, our schools are better able to maintain and grow these programs for every student. 

 

How the Program Works

1. Report the Absence

Report the absence to your school front office. Not sure how? Click here

2. Download Grade Level Activities

Visit our resource page and complete the applicable course work. Save the completed work on your device or take a photo of it. Students have 5 days from the date of the absence to complete the recovery activities and submit their work through the link provided in a google form (which is the next step!).

3. Grade Level Activity Submission

Once you have reported an absence, downloaded the grade level resource activity and completed it (within 5 days), please submit it here! If has been more than 5 days since your absence, the absence cannot be recovered. Click here to complete the google form.

4. Teacher Review

A credentialed teacher will review the submitted work. If you have questions contact Shannon Findley with questions - sfindley@tcusd.net

5. Credit Determination

Once reviewed, the absence will be cleared for either credit or no credit based on the completed work. Please allow 10-14 school days for this to be completed and reflected on your Aeries account. *This does not account for make up work for a specific class or teacher, you must check with a teacher to complete course specific work.
