Hello Longden Families, 

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! We’re so excited to welcome both new and returning Tigers as we kick off an amazing new school year tomorrow.

Starting a new school year can stir up a mix of excitement and nerves for everyone. That’s totally normal! We want you to know that we’re here to support each and every one of our students as they adapt. With your help, we’re ready to make this school year one to remember.

The following information is essential for ensuring a smooth and successful start.

First Day
Parents are welcome on campus on the first day of school only. Keeping your children safe is our priority. Maintaining a closed campus ensures safety throughout the campus. The gates will open at 7:45 and will close at 8:30. Please exit the campus once the announcement is made over the speakers.

Tomorrow, we will follow our regular Wednesday dismissal times:
TK & Kinder dismissal at 12:40
1st - 6th-grade dismissal at 1:00

☀️ The weather remains quite warm, so please remember to send your child to school with plenty of water to keep them hydrated. We also ask that you pick up your children on time to ensure they stay comfortable and avoid waiting in the heat. 

Name Placards
Families received two colored name placards in the registration packet. Please place one placard in the lower right-hand corner of your car's windshield or present it at the drop-off/pick-up gates if you are walking. Name placards must be brought daily to streamline the pick-up and drop-off process and prevent delays. For drop-offs, please use the designated drop-off zone and remain in your vehicles. 
Please call the front office at 626-548-5068 if you need name placards for your child. 

DROP OFF/PICK UP Locations
TK/KINDER - Longden Drive-Thru & Walk-Up Gates
1st - 3rd - Longden Drive-Thru & Walk-Up Gates
4th - 6th - Wendon Drive-Thru & Walk-Up Gates

The Longden Ave. gates close at 8:10 am. If your child arrives after the gate closure at 8:10, please drop them off on the Wendon St. side of campus.

The Wendon St. gate closes at 8:15. If your child arrives late, please enter the front office to obtain a late slip.

Sibling Pick-Up
- If you have siblings with different dismissal times, please pick them up on the Wendon St. side of campus.
Inform your students about the pick-up location.
- If you have enrolled your student in an after-school program, ensure your child knows the program's name and where the meeting will occur.

We need your support regarding the sharing of food or drinks.
The rise in food allergies among children means that even the tiniest exposure to allergens could be potentially severe or life-threatening. This year, we've seen an increase in students with various food allergies. Ensuring a safe environment for all students is more crucial than ever.
Here's how you can help make Longden safer for all students:
  • Please remind your child never to share their food and drinks with other students.
  • Please remind your child never to eat or drink anything offered to them by others.
  • Please remind your child to wash their hands before and after eating.
Your support for children with allergies is extremely valuable. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.
 
Absence

Reporting an absence

If your child is absent for any reason, please call, email, or send a note to our front office at:
626-548-5068
Be sure to include:
  • Child's first and last name
  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Name of parent/guardian reporting absence
Deliveries

Deliveries

Please be advised that the office does not allow lunch drop-offs, water bottles, instruments, homework, schoolwork, books, etc. Your understanding and cooperation are highly appreciated as we work together to create an environment that maximizes student learning and maintains a safe, closed campus.
What if your child forgets breakfast or lunch?
Our cafeteria will provide nutritious options at no charge.

Would you like to become a Parent Volunteer?

  1.  Please fill out the Longden Parent Volunteer Form
  2.  Have all of the necessary documents requested in the form
  3. Communicate with your child's teacher to confirm the time & date to volunteer.
*Please note: Not all teachers request volunteers. You will still have volunteer opportunities with Longden PTA.
