Opening of Schools 2021-2022Instructional Calendar 2021-2022

As COVID-19 cases continue to decrease and vaccines become more widely available, the Temple City Unified School District is pleased to begin the process of planning for our students to return to in-person instruction at all of our schools including elementary, intermediate and high school locations for the 2021-22 school year.  This return to school will be in accordance with all of the federal, state and local safety guidelines.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 25, 2021 and we are extremely excited to welcome students back onto all of our campus locations.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued updated guidance on physical distancing which is in accordance with the guidance put forth by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).  This update has changed the social distancing requirement to a minimum of three feet distancing between students instead of the previous six foot requirement.  This change in the length of social distancing will be beneficial in accommodating more students on campus and increasing valuable in-person instructional time.

On April 15th 2021, families will have the opportunity to participate in a Town Hall meeting where both Summer Opportunities and Re-Opening plans will be discussed in order to gather input from all stakeholders.

Families who wish to keep their students home during the 2021-22 school year will have an opportunity to do so as well.

TCUSD continues to make every effort to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students and staff, while adhering to all health and safety guidelines established by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH).

The District’s health and safety measures include:

  • Contact tracing protocols
  • Daily temperature checks
  • Enhanced ventilation systems
  • Face coverings
  • Hand sanitizing stations in each classroom and common space
  • Increased disinfecting practices and protocols
  • Physical distancing
  • Stand-alone air purification systems for each classroom, office spaces and common areas

TCUSD greatly appreciates your continued support throughout this school year and will continue to provide updated information as we move closer to the opening of the 2021-2022 school year.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Fricker Ed. D.

Superintendent of Schools
