My name is Carina Quan, and I am a Special Education teacher with Temple City High School.
I have been in education for 10+ years, and truly love what I do. I currently hold a cleared Education Specialist Credential, specializing in mild to moderate disabilities, and have my Master's in Special Education, with an emphasis in mild to moderate disabilities. Additionally, I have completed all coursework for the single subject English credential, as well as for the Moderate to Severe Education Specialist credential. To continue to develop my skills, and stay current on best practices, as well as to hone my skills as a teacher, I am also an Adjunct Professor for the Charter College of Education at California State University, Los Angeles. Something that I am very passionate about is volunteer and charity work. Annually, I have been a part of beautiful movements that involve providing thousands of backpacks with school supplies for children across Southern California, providing toys via toy drives that raise over 15k in toys, and have participated in food drives as well.
My teaching philosophy is, "All students deserve equal access, with appropriate supports." As educators, we must all strive to provide the best education possible for all our students, and must be able to with the most appropriate supports in place.
I am currently teaching during periods 2 and 4. My class is called English 9/10 Skills. Periods 1, 3, and 6 are periods in which I am collaborating and working within the general education setting, with select English Language Arts teachers.
