CAASPP Program
California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System is intended to provide parents and students more accurate and actionable information about what students are learning. The assessments that comprise the CAASPP administration are online assessments comprised of the Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics tests, California Science Tests (CAST), and the California Alternate Assessment (CAA).
CAASPP Starting Smarter for Families
In order to assist parents/guardians in supporting their children’s academic success, the California Department of Education (CDE), in collaboration with the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and Educational Testing Service, launched a website aimed at helping families understand the CAASPP system:
The family-focused website provides resources to facilitate parents’/guardians’ understanding of the scores presented on their child’s Student Score Reports. Using these websites, families can become involved in their child’s educational progress and:
- Learn more about the performance areas in each subject and grade.
- See sample test questions.
- Prepare for parent-teacher conferences.
- Access high-quality resources to support learning at home
