• Dear TCHS Families,

Greetings! Our hope is that these last two transition weeks have started to become smoother for your families. Many thanks for all you have done to help your student adjust. TCHS administrators and teachers appreciate your patience as we navigated the transition that needed to happen to abruptly change from what we knew as school to what it is now.

Please take this next week to rest; but we wanted to leave you with some information for what will be happening upon returning from spring break. You received a comprehensive and detailed letter from the District Office; but to further break down information, we will be more specific to our school:

When we return April 6th to online learning, we will be on a Block Schedule:

    Monday & Wednesday

    English/Language Arts- 8:10-9:40

    Social Studies - 9:50-11:20

    World Languages - 11:30 - 1:00

    Physical Education - 1:30-3:00

    Tuesday & Thursday

    Math - 8:10-9:40

    Science - 9:50-11:20

Visual and Performing Arts - 11:30-1:00

    Career Technical Education - 1:30-3:00

Your teachers on Monday/Wednesday (as detailed above) will provide an agenda/expectations for each day. They will deliver instruction through various formats from Google Classroom PowerPoints, videos, YouTube videos, and readings to Meets, Hangouts, or Zoom. Instruction will take place for that subject area any time during that time window (e.g. a teacher may assign a student to watch a video and complete a task that may take one hour of the ninety-minute period). Teachers will communicate directly with your student. Teachers will assign independent practice based on the teachings of the day or a culmination of instruction over the week. The same will happen for the Tuesday/Thursday classes.

Due dates for assignments can vary and so it is important that students stay in touch with their teachers if any assessments or assignments conflict with other class timelines so that adjustments can be made. Communication is very important during this time.

On Fridays, teachers will conduct office hours for a three-hour period so that parents and students can receive extra help and support. Teachers will inform your student what their specific office hours will be. Students can solicit feedback for assignments, request extra help, and email teachers with questions.

Please remember that we are here to answer questions and support you in any way we can. Reach out to any one of us: rlohman@tcusd.net, eli@tcusd.net, ahernandez@tcusd.net, bnguyen@tcusd.net. Take care and have a safe spring break.
